Structural design, fabrication-ready shop drawings and certification for architectural metalwork and façade packages — balustrades, screens, stairs and canopies, resolved to the last plate and bolt.
Send the architect's drawings or your tender scope — a metalwork engineer replies with a clear scope and fee.
The architect shows an intent, the builder needs a price, and the fabricator needs drawings they can actually cut from. Metric does the structural design, produces the 3D-modelled shop drawings and certifies the finished package — one engineer accountable from the first mark-up to the final sign-off.
Steel and aluminium, primary and secondary — designed to the Australian Standards, documented for the workshop, certified for the certifier.
Steel, aluminium and glass-infill balustrades for stairs, voids, terraces and pools — designed and certified to the barrier loads in AS 1170.1, with fixings detailed for the substrate they actually land on.
Perforated and expanded-metal screens, battens and louvre systems with their support framing — wind loads to AS/NZS 1170.2, brackets and connections checked, and the compliance evidence coordinated for certification.
Steel stairs, spiral stairs, ladders, walkways and platforms — engineered, drawn member-by-member and certified, to AS 1657 where it applies.
Entry canopies, street awnings and steel pergolas — designed for wind and maintenance loads, and certified, including council awning certifications for existing structures.
Connection design, secondary steel, mezzanines and support framing — sized and detailed to AS 4100, coordinated with the primary structure so nothing clashes on site.
Fabrication-ready shop drawings from our design or yours — 3D modelled, issued as GA sheets and workshop sets with every plate, bolt and weld symbol resolved, in CAD and IFC for coordination.
Tendering supply-and-install? We carry the engineering behind your package — design, detailing, fixings and certification — so you can price the metal and leave the calculations to us. Send the tender scope and the fee comes back within 24 hours.
Screens, balustrades, stairs and canopies engineered and documented before the trade goes out — so the package tenders cleanly, fabricates without RFIs and certifies without drama at handover.
Western Sydney · Façade engineering
For an early-learning centre in Sydney's west, we engineered the architectural expanded-metal screen wrapping the street elevation — the steel support frame designed for wind loads to AS/NZS 1170.2, every bracket and connection checked, and the whole system documented in 3D with GA drawings and IFC models for coordination.
The screen went through shop-drawing review with the fabricator to revision three — the iterations happening on paper, where they're cheap, instead of on site, where they're not. It's the same path we run on every metalwork package: design it, draw it, certify it.
Selected current work — project and client names available on request.

A metalwork engineer confirms scope, standards and what the certifier will want to see.
A clear written scope, fee and turnaround — no obligation.
Calculations, 3D-modelled shop drawings and certification, issued ready for fabrication.
